About this app

The OFFICIAL ABRSM Violin Practice Partner is a simple way to make practising pieces for your exams more musical, enjoyable and fun. It is useful for anyone learning or teaching pieces from the NEW ABRSM Violin Exam Pieces from 2024. Selected Violin Exam Pieces from the 2020-2023 and 2016–2019 syllabus are also available to purchase in-app.

Use Violin Practice Partner to practise with the piano accompaniment, the violin part in isolation, or the duo ensemble recording. The app will help you to:
• Become familiar with the accompaniment and understand how the solo line fits with the piano part for more secure performances.
• Make practice more musical and enjoyable by having a virtual violin partner to play along with.
• Slow down or speed up the music to a tempo that suits you, for slow careful practice.
• Listen closely to the violin in isolation to hear every detail of the expert performance.
• Repeat tricky passages by setting loops around them.

You can also:
• Personalise the app – choose from nine different virtual partners to practise with!

Violin Practice Partner comes with an example piece from Grade 4 and Grade 8 of the NEW ABRSM Violin Exam Pieces from 2024, allowing you to experience the app before purchasing any piece. In app you can purchase:

Individual pieces and Grade selections from:
• All accompanied pieces from the ABRSM Violin Exam Pieces from 2024 books for Initial Grade – Grade 8
• All accompanied pieces from the ABRSM Violin Exam Pieces 2020–2023 books for Grades 1–8
• All accompanied pieces from the ABRSM Violin Exam Pieces 2016–2019 books for Grades 1–7

Notes:
• Please test the app using the sample piece to ensure it is working effectively on your device before making any in app purchases.
• Solo (unaccompanied) pieces are not available in-app.
• Practice Partner does not support the upload of external audio files.

The app is very useful and I like the possibility to slow down the pieces (I'm a violin teacher). I'm disappointed though that they do not include the alternative pieces (it used to be a cd with all the pieces in the book+ all the extra pieces you can buy separately).

Amazed this was available. So disappointed as 3 x Grade 3 tracks paid for and downloaded, only 1 played once then nothing at all for it or the other 2!! Poor. That's a fiver gone. Expected more! Also does not appear as an app either in Application Manager or a separate icon in the app drawer. It seems installation is done in stealth mode.

The it was useful for playing pieces on my phone however the slow down function on the app, which I bought it for, I was disappointed by. This function simply slows down the piece. You may think this is good however if you know about sound and think about it for a few seconds you will realise it is flawed. If you add a slowing down effect to a sound file, it will change the pitch of the sounds, making it useless to practice to as you will start practicing to something entirely out of tune.
