About this game

Rugged Trail is a turn-based route planning strategy game set on a hand-drawn contour mountain map.

Plot your hike from base camp to the summit one waypoint at a time. Every leg costs stamina and supplies, and the mountain always gets a vote: steep climbs, loose scree, snow slopes, creek crossings, and cliff detours each change the price you pay and the risks you take.

The weather shifts every few turns. Clear skies are forgiving, but high wind, snowfall, and cold rain make every step harsher. Read the forecast banner and adapt your route before the storm closes in.

Incidents strike on dangerous legs. A rockfall, an icy slip, or a soaked creek crossing can drain the last of your strength. If stamina or supplies hit zero, the expedition is over.

Reach the summit and earn a score based on speed, leftover supplies, and how cleanly you avoided trouble. Spend your coins in the Supply Shop on energy bars, extra rations, and permanent gear like the Rope Kit, Insulated Flask, and Trail Map, which highlights the cheapest legs in gold.
