About this app

Cool The Globe was born with a simple question:
What can I do about climate change?
Today, citizens from around the world have collectively avoided 3.5 million kg CO2 emissions through Cool The Globe platform.
We believe that real change takes place when citizens like us come together to take climate action.

How Cool The Globe Works:
There are many ways to reduce your carbon footprint, from making climate conscious choices in your travel, usage of appliances, materials to things you do at home or office.
In the app, you can choose from 100+ such simple climate actions to reduce your carbon footprint, and know the emissions you avoided with each climate action.Your avoided emissions are recorded to a 'User Meter' - your GHG savings meter.
Use Cool The Globe app to reduce your carbon footprint to a country-specific target.

Global Meter:
But what difference can one individual make? We believe that when there are many individuals coming together, our collective impact can be extraordinary. To embody that, a 'Global Meter' in the app displays avoided Greenhouse Gas Emissions of all app users combined.

Features of the app:
Fight climate change and global warming by reducing your own greenhouse gas emissions.

* Take climate action and record savings of CO2 emissions under four categories: Travel, Home/Office, Materials and Social Responsibility.
* Watch the 'User Meter' for your own avoided CO2 emissions.
* Save to a concrete monthly target to reduce your carbon footprint.
Default target will be based on per capita CO2 emissions of your country. You can set your own targets too.
* Watch the 'Global Meter' for total savings by app users all over the world.
* Targets: There are two targets for the user community - global CO2 emissions savings and number of app users.
* Carbon footprint calculator: You can provide information about your average monthly consumption of energy in the form of electricity, gas, petrol oil, flights taken etc and get an idea about your Carbon Footprint.
* Spread the word to meet the target for the number of app users

Become a part of the Cool The Globe movement in two ways:
1) By reducing your own carbon footprint to a concrete monthly target.
2) By spreading the word so that we can achieve the global targets.

In the face of climate change, our actions matter. Our Voice Matters. We can make a difference.

Join the global movement.
Rise for climate action.
Together, let's Cool The Globe!

There's nothing interesting here, just a tiny square tile with a tiny bar indicating your progress. So much more could've been done to gamify this and make it a challenge that people would take up, but the app is far away from it. Additionally the choices to record your actions is confusing, for instance if I go to AC, I have to choose Switched off AC for x hours - this makes no sense unless you're assuming that the AC runs 24x7 and turning it off is something special. Not engaging, so I'm out.

The travel mode doesn't have auto rickshaw. I can't add multiple modes of transport. It doesn't have other usage like AC to food habits etc. I'm uninstalling this. It's not comprehensive enough.

There are very limited options in the taking action, there's no composting, avoiding plastics, recycling, refurbishing, repurposing etc. Nothing like remaking something that Indian Households do like making sheets for beds or mats from old clothes. It is designed for urban people only I guess. No integration of daily social media usage, phone usage time, and the battery of mobile being used, for that. Everything is generating CO2, each notification/text even this comment is energy extensive.

Hi Nitika, thank you for using the app and sharing your feedback. to record reduced usage of Plastic, use Menu Materials >> tab Materials > Plastic. Reuse of cloths can be logged as Materials > Products>Clothing > Not purchased. We will try to provide some of these options directly in our new release.
