About this app

DengueChatPlus is a technological tool designed to address diseases such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever, all transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This free mobile application, combined with a web platform, empowers communities to take collective action in identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding sites.

Developed by the Social Apps Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, under the leadership of Professor James Holston and Dr. Josefina Coloma, DengueChatPlus integrates communication technology, gamification, and real-time local data to promote community-led disease control.

The Aedes aegypti mosquito thrives in residential water containers, often evading governmental chemical control measures. DengueChatPlus harnesses the power of smartphones, computers, and social networks to mobilize communities, encouraging active participation in reducing mosquito populations. Through continuous data updates, users gain practical insights that enable informed decision-making to effectively mitigate health risks.
