FoodFinder helps food insecure kids & families find their closest free food.

Who it helps: FoodFinder helps food insecure kids and adult first responders, like teachers and counselors, find their closest free food resources quickly, privately, and effectively.

What it does: It automatically identifies all free food resources near any location in the US on a map, and ‘pins’ appear to identify the nearest free food sites.

How it works:
- Open the app and your location is automatically displayed on a map.
- Tap a nearby pin to see the name of that resource
- Tap the name to see all the details and information for that free food resource.
- Tap the address to automatically open google maps and get directions to reach the resource from your current location.

You can also:
- Tap the phone number to CALL the resource (if available)
- Tap the email address to automatically EMAIL the resource (if available).
- See languages spoken, services offered, website, and other available information about the resource
- Tap Suggest an Edit to share valuable information with the community.

Ratings and reviews

Like the idea behind the app, but whole I can see my dot & the locations where potentially I may acquire food, and I can even click on those locations & get the information, but the map itself never actually becomes visual, so it's just a bunch of dots on a blank screen. Its difficult to gauge distance & kind of negates the whole purpose of the app...

Seeing white screen screen with cross in bottom right corner; In upper right white area what I assume is a green compass with no indicators of where or function; absolutely no response to any zipcode; Showed blue dot centrally few times with no function correlating; " donation" also clearly states it does/;will not ever work in minute print. Painful part is I just directed parent of children who begged because they have no food for today to install and use this app.

This app is great. In my area most of the information for the pantries are correct. Sometimes you do have to call ahead to confirm to be sure. But that's totally fine! It's a good tool for those fighting hunger right now with the world we live in. I have recommended a lot of people to use this app just for that reason. ❤️
