TRacer is a specialized app developed for Amateur Radio operators to enhance participant safety in races with checkpoints. Originally designed for the Squaw Peak 50-mile trail run, TRacer ensures that every participant is accounted for by tracking their time in and out of aid stations. This critical data is transmitted quickly and accurately over radio frequencies using the MT63 protocol and FLAMP, which eliminates the need to verbally relay participant bib numbers and times. This approach not only ensures accuracy by guaranteeing that the data received by net control is exactly what was sent but also frees up valuable time and bandwidth for more essential voice communications and tasks.
The data transfer format used is flAMP and the mode is mt63-2000L; the libraries used are open source with a special license grant from the creators of FLDIGI to make it possible to publish them for free on the app store.
