About this app

HearAssist sends surrounding sound from your phone's microphone to your selected earphones and lets you adjust its level and tone. Keep your phone nearby to hear and adjust surrounding sound through your earphones.

Sound you control
• App sound level: use the buttons and slider on Home.
• Left and right: reduce each side independently.
• Tone: choose Natural, High-frequency emphasis or Warm.
• Output: choose which connected earphones receive the sound.
The app sound level and your phone's media volume are separate. The lowest adjustment is not Stop.

Connect, adjust and start
1. Connect earphones to your phone and select the output in the app.
2. Set a low media volume and adjust the app sound level.
3. Check microphone permission and the start guidance, then start it yourself.
4. Stop from the app whenever needed. If notifications are allowed, you can also stop from the ongoing session notification.
Granting permission or reconnecting earphones does not automatically start input. A route change stops the session; you must start it again yourself.

Earphone support
Wired and USB earphones are the default routes. Bluetooth is experimental, and you must select the connected earphones yourself. Delay and sound quality can vary with the phone, earphones and connection. Compatibility with all earphones, zero delay and uninterrupted sound are not guaranteed.

Audio and on-device data
Microphone audio is processed on your device and sent to your selected earphones. The app does not create recording files or send the audio to servers, advertising services or analytics services.
Sound settings and permission-guidance history are stored on the device. If you choose the advanced 8-second test, one recent numerical record without raw audio is saved and is not uploaded automatically. There is no account registration, advertising or cloud voice processing.

Who it is for and its limits
A manual surrounding-sound adjustment tool for adults aged 18 and over with normal hearing. It does not relay calls, music or the internal audio of other apps.
It is not intended to compensate for hearing loss, restore hearing, replace hearing aids, or diagnose or treat disease. Consult a healthcare professional about hearing concerns.
Improved speech clarity, noise-removal effects, actual acoustic delay and sound pressure at the ear have not been validated. A digital output limit does not guarantee a safe sound pressure at the ear. Check the first output at low volume with the earphones out of your ears.
