Hoit'e Woiperes, which translates to “Knower of the language” in Hoocąk, is an online language learning portal devoted entirely to the Hoocąk language. Hoit'e Woiperes provides Hoocąk speaking and learning communities with a powerful tool for revitalizing and learning the Hoocąk language. Hoit'e Woiperes was envisioned as a way for all interested Hoocąk learners to learn the vocabulary and fundamental sentence construction as an important supplement to conventional language education. Based on leading online language learning practices, Hoit'e Woiperes gives learners the power to bring language learning anywhere they go.

At its core, Hoit'e Woiperes reshapes the possibilities for indigenous language learning and revitalization. By pairing the historic Hoocąk language with the most current, effective, adaptive, and accessible learning technologies available, Hoit'e Woiperes will give thousands of Hoocąk a way to learn their ancestral language.

Hoit'e Woiperes offers interactive learning units that incorporate reading, writing, and eventually speaking systems; and standard achievement tracking, gamification, and rewards. Hoit'e Woiperes not only helps individual users improve their language skills, it brings the language to life in daily lessons, builds community language capacity, and shows that Hoocąk can be learned with regular practice and use.

What's new

Village, Leaderboard, and Friends restrictions for users under 13 years of age to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA). These features will henceforth be restricted to adults. The village will also be turned off completely due to lack of productive interaction.
