About this app

The "Сыйлы дин китаб" offline Bible app is designed for native speakers of the Karachay language, as well as anyone interested in it. Intended for both adults and children, it is suitable for a first introduction to the Bible as well as regular Scripture reading. The translation of the Books of the Prophets Daniel and Jonah into Karachay was produced by a team of experts from the Institute for Bible Translation, specializing in biblical studies and linguistics. The app also includes Russian and English translations, which can be enabled in parallel or in verse-by-verse mode under the "Language and Layout" section.

By tapping the text, users can open a bottom menu to:

- highlight verses in different colors, add bookmarks, and write notes;

- create verse-images: text excerpts can be placed over images included in the app or any photo from the user's device. These verse-images can be shared directly to social media from the app.

Tapping an individual word allows you to search for that word throughout the text.

The side menu options allow you to:

- view your reading history;

- share the Google Play link to the app with others;

- adjust the font size in the "Text Appearance" section, as well as select a different overall color scheme for the app under the "Text Appearance" side menu option.

An internet connection is required to stream audio. You can select the "Download audio files" option in Settings; this requires an internet connection only once to download the audio files to your device, after which they can be played offline. The text automatically scrolls in sync with the audio playback. In Settings, you can also enable phrase-by-phrase highlighting, which is especially useful for the Book of Jonah, where the written text and audio recording match word-for-word.
