Everything you spend in Japan, in one app.

Point your camera at a Japanese price tag to see the product name in your language, the tax-included price, and an estimate in your own currency. Add items to track your cart total and how much is left before the tax-free threshold. Set a trip budget and the app works out what you can spend today, then keeps meals, trains, tickets and receipts in the same place.

■ While you shop
Know the total before you reach the till. Scanning a tag reads the product name, tells the pre-tax and tax-included prices apart, and works out what you will actually pay. Every item you add moves the cart total and the amount still needed for tax-free. When a tag is blurred or unusual, you can type the price in yourself.

■ Trip budget
Enter a budget and your travel dates, and the app shows what is left along with what you can spend per day. The daily figure is worked out again as your end date comes closer, so it stays honest about the days you have left.

■ Spending records
Money without a price tag counts too. Log meals, transport and tickets with a category and they join the trip total. Photograph a receipt and the total is read for you — you confirm the amount on screen before anything is saved.

■ Cash and card
Record how you paid and the two stay apart. Enter the cash you brought and the app shows what is left by your own records. When you cover a friend's share and they pay you back, that goes in as well and comes off the trip total.

■ While you are in Japan
Home shows the weather where you are and the week ahead. Only approximate location is used, and it is not stored on our servers. (Data: Japan Meteorological Agency)

■ Please note
Currency estimates, receipt readings and weather are all for reference. Final prices and tax-free eligibility are decided by the store. The cash figure counts only what you have recorded. Available in Korean, English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) and Japanese.

What’s new

• The "Plan what this trip will cost" card on Home is now a boarding pass; "Start planning" opens the trip settings.
• Trip settings fill the pass as you type and show what you can spend per day.
• Japan's tax-free scheme changes on 1 November (refund after departure, not at the till); the app switches its guidance that day.
• Expense records can be corrected: tap the pencil to change amount, category, memo or payment. Category is optional with a memo.
• History is grouped by day, with totals.
