drover is an app that connects to your server via SSH from Android and allows you to control the terminal running on the server (specifically multiplexers like herdr and coding agents like Claude Code and Codex) from your phone.
■ Typing Korean Correctly
If you type Korean directly into the terminal, characters being composed are sent to the server one by one, making it prone to corruption. With drover, you write the entire sentence in a separate input window and send it with a single [Send] press. To send, you press Enter, and if you press and hold, you insert only the text. You can retrieve sent text by pressing ↑. It works exactly the same regardless of which keyboard app you use.
■ Modifier Keys on the Phone
Pressing Ctrl or Alt once activates the next key, while pressing and holding it activates it until released. It features Esc, Tab, ⇧Tab, Arrow keys, Home/End, and F1–F12 keys on the keybar, and also supports Bluetooth and USB keyboards.
■ Terminal Operation
Tabs correspond to mouse clicks, dragging vertically scrolls, dragging with two fingers moves the panel boundaries, and pinching apart adjusts the font size (remembered per server). Press and hold to select and copy text, and content copied from the server (OSC 52) appears directly on the phone's clipboard.
■ Keys Never Leave the Device
You can create ed25519 keys or import existing OpenSSH keys. Private keys are wrapped in Android Keystore keys for storage, and you can choose to require fingerprint or device authentication for each key. Once you connect once with a password and register your public key to the server with a single button press, a password is no longer required.
■ Secure Connection
The fingerprint of the server you are connecting to for the first time is displayed, and a red warning appears if the server key changes. It also supports servers that prompt for an authentication code (OTP) after the password. You can pre-set commands to execute after connecting (e.g., herdr) for each server.
■ What Is Not Sent to the Developer's Server
Content exchanged via SSH, private keys, server addresses, accounts, and passwords are not sent to the developer's server. The connection is established directly from this device to your server. The app communicates with no one other than the SSH server you are connecting to. There are no account sign-ups, advertisements, or analytics tools.
■ Things to Note
- You must personally prepare the SSH server you wish to connect to.
- The connection may be interrupted depending on the device if the app remains in the background for an extended period.
- If you close the Korean input window, you can type directly into the terminal (for vim and auto-completion).
