Open Gurukul is a warm, private learning companion designed especially for school students and useful for learners of every age.

Study without sending your learning data to an online AI service. Open Gurukul can run a supported Gemma model directly on your Android device, helping you learn even when internet access is limited.

PRIVATE AND OFFLINE-FIRST

Your chats, imported documents, images, flashcards and study history stay on your device by default. The on-device AI model works without a cloud account or subscription. An optional local-network mode can connect to an AI service running on a computer you control.

BUILT FOR FOCUSED STUDY

Open Gurukul combines a calm Indian learning identity with light and dark themes, multilingual interface options, study reminders and practical revision tools.

Some AI features require downloading a compatible model and a device with sufficient storage and memory. AI-generated explanations can be inaccurate, so important educational information should be checked with a teacher or trusted source.

What’s new

Open Gurukul is now much faster and more responsive offline. This update adds streamed answers with cancellation, removes blocking laptop checks, improves conversation memory, speeds up app startup, and generates bounded flashcards and quizzes more reliably. It also refreshes the Open Gurukul learning experience and branding.
