About this app

Readeck for Android is the native client for Readeck, the open-source read-it-later service. Save articles, videos, and images to your Readeck server and read them on your phone or tablet with a fast, clean, distraction-free interface.

This app requires a running Readeck server and a Readeck account. It is not a standalone service; it connects to the Readeck server you configure.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Your Deck: Browse your saved bookmarks in the Deck, your main reading list, alongside Archive and Favorites. Sort and filter by title, author, site, labels, and more.
• Three layouts: Switch between Grid, Mosaic, and Compact list views to match how you like to browse.
• Labels: Add, rename, delete, and filter your Deck by one or more labels.
• Collections: Save any search or filter as a reusable, server-synced view you can reach from the navigation drawer.
• Manage in bulk: Swipe actions and multi-select to archive, favorite, label, and organize your bookmarks quickly.
• Reading modes: Read Readeck's clean extracted Article view, switch to the original page in an embedded web view, or turn pages one screen at a time in an optional paged layout suited to e-ink devices. Article, photo, and video bookmarks are all supported, with embedded media.
• Edit bookmarks: Update a bookmark's title, description, site name, and authors directly from the app.
• Image lightbox: Tap an article's images to view them full-screen in a zoomable lightbox.
• Highlights & annotations: Create, edit, and delete highlights as you read, and revisit them all from the navigation drawer.
• In-article search: Find text within an article and jump between highlighted matches.
• Quick add & share: Add bookmarks with the in-app button, or share to Readeck from any app's share sheet.
• Offline add queue: Adding a bookmark while your server is unreachable no longer fails silently: it's queued and sent automatically once you're back online, with a "Waiting to be added" drawer entry to review, retry, or remove pending items.
• Reading progress: Per-card indicators show how far you've read each article, and a "Last opened" sort surfaces your in-app reading backlog.
• Reading typography: Customize font family, size, line spacing, and content width in the reader.
• Auto-scroll: Hands-free reading mode with nine adjustable speeds, paced to reading speed so a setting holds regardless of font size.
• Themes: Choose a Light, Dark, Sepia, or Black theme, or follow your system theme automatically. A high contrast mode strips the reader to pure black and white: useful for accessibility, and to avoid dithering on e-ink screens.
• Offline reading: Read your saved articles without a connection, with control over what gets synced for offline use.
• Resume reading on launch: Optionally reopen the article you were last reading automatically.
• Adaptive layouts: Tailored for phone and tablet, in both portrait and landscape.
• Built-in user guide: An in-app guide walks you through setup and every feature.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

Readeck for Android talks only to the Readeck server you configure. There are no third-party analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your credentials are stored encrypted on your device and are only ever sent to your Readeck server to sign in. Authentication uses browser-based OAuth (Authorization Code + PKCE), with a device-code flow available as a fallback: no passwords are stored in the app.
