About this app

The Shark Trust app is a centralised and connected space for five citizen science recording projects aiming to discover the extent and distribution of sharks and shark egg cases around the world.
Get involved by heading to the beach in search of eggcases or out at sea to find and report shark sightings, using the app to identify what you’ve found.
Key features of the app include:

Really dire, I have a slightly older android phone which might affect performance, but this app is just atrocious. Searching for a location is very flaky, the drop down species list sometimes appears (snd doesn't match the ID chart) and sometime doesn't, the connection with my phone camera doesn't work and there's no 'submit' button or other way to add/record my finds. The old app had its faults but was significantly better than this. A wasted afternoon.

It's OK but under-developed app and doesn't make me want to use it again. Thought identifying an egg case would be easy/obvious and at the heart of what this does. No. Realised I had to select a Project, etc. Why not have ID front and centre? Wouldn't take a photo. Some buttons are partially obscured by bottom menu. "My Finds" was a blank sceen (obvs because I didn't have a find, but why no button to add one?). Great idea to have an app but needs more thought and better execution.

It's a good app. I use it to identify and upload shark egg case finds on the beach. It helps you identify them with a few questions and some images to look though. And it rewards you with some in-app collectible cards which are fun. Uploading the egg case finds in aid of helping them to understand sharks better, so it's for a good cause.
