The app is actually a multilingual dictionary with glosses or meanings in English, Hindi and Marathi. The app can also reverse the dictionary to find the Madia words that correspond to (say) an English word. Each word lists the part of speech, a definition and the semantic domain to which it belongs. Madia Gond or Hill Madia as it is called in the literature is a central Dravidian language spoken in the Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra and in the Bijapur and Narayanpur Districts of Chhattisgarh. Documented analysis of this language goes back to 1965 when Sneha Veena published her doctoral dissertation on "A Descriptive Analysis of Madiya Dialect" at Deccan College Pune. Those who compiled data for this app include native speakers from Madia villages as well as outside scholars who have spent more than 30 years working with the language. Many other language resources can be downloaded from www.madia.in.
