Mooré-French-English Dictionary
Compiling a dictionary of a language is like putting a people's culture into alphabetical order. Of course, we are aware that this dictionary only scratches the surface of this beautiful language and reveals only a small part of its richness and the culture of the Mossi people.
You will find the following improvements:
• Flashcards
A new flashcard feature helps app users learn words.
• Word Sharing
App users can share a dictionary entry as an image with their friends.
When viewing an entry, users can tap the "Share Word" button located in the toolbar. The image is then sent via the device's usual sharing options, such as messaging apps, email, or social media.
• “Semantic Domains and Themes” Tab
Application users can browse entries by theme, based on the semantic domains present in the dictionary data.
This dictionary allows you to discover the Mooré language. By clicking the “search” button (the small magnifying glass in the upper right corner), a window opens where you can type words in Mooré, French, or English. Type “search,” and a new window will display the results. Select the word you want to examine more closely, and a new window will open on your screen.
This dictionary contains more than 13,100 Mooré words and expressions translated into French and English, often illustrated with example sentences. (Sometimes we have included an image to illustrate the word; in fact, there are more than 6,200 photos/images in this dictionary.) Generally, we have used the central dialect of the Ouagadougou region as the reference dialect for Mooré. There are cases where we have added dialectal variants, but we were unable to include all of them. Obviously, Moore still has many words that are not included in this dictionary.
This dictionary can be useful for several purposes:
It can help the Mossi people write their native language.
It will serve as a reference lexicon for teachers and literacy instructors.
This dictionary can help you discover the Mossi language and culture.
There is also an .exe version of this dictionary that you can install on your computer.

There, you will also have 9,500 audio files; so when you click on the speaker icon next to the headword of the entry, the word will be pronounced, which is especially helpful for people whose native language is not Moore.
This same dictionary with audio files can be consulted online at the following website:

Foreword (English)
Writing a dictionary is “putting the culture of a people in alphabetical order.” Well, we have to admit that this present version of the Moore dictionary shows only the peak of the ice-berg of the riches and beauty of the Moore language and of Mossi culture. We hope that other people will add information to this dictionary and thus help us to get a more complete picture of the riches of the Moore language.
Up to now we got about 13,100 Moore entries and over 6,200 pictures to illustrate the dictionary.
To search an item, just click on the small search icon on the top right of your screen and a search window will appear. Type the word (in Moore, French or English) you are looking for into the search field and click “search”. A new window with the search results will open and you can find your dictionary entry by selecting the entry you want to open up.
A dictionary is the life of a people put in alphabetical order.
