About this app

A Bluetooth remote control app for Sony Alpha cameras that is immediately available in your phone's notification area as soon as you turn on your camera. This app is free and open source.

The app uses Android's companion app feature, meaning that it does not actively scan for your camera, but is only started by Android when the camera has been seen by the system - and the app's service is shut down as soon as it is turned off again. The remote control buttons are there when you need them, but no resources or screenspace are used otherwise.

So far, this app has only been tested with the following cameras:
ILCE-6400 (α6400), ILCE-6600 (α6600), ILCE-6700 (α6700), ILCE-7M3 (α7 III), ILCE-7CM2 (α7C II), ILCE-7M4 (α7 IV), ILCE-7RM3 (α7R III), ILCE-7RM4 (α7R IV), ILCE-9 (α9), ZV-E10

It is expected to work with any Sony camera that supports Bluetooth remotes, including the following models:
DSC-RX100M7, DSC-RX100M7G, ZV-1, ILCE-7M4K, ILCE-7RM4A, ZV-E10, ZV-E10L, ILCE-1, ILCE-7C, ILCE-7CL, ILCE-7SM3, ILCE-9M2, ILCE-6100, ILCE-6100L, ILCE-6100Y, ILCE-6600M, ILCE-6400L, ILCE-6400M, ILCE-7M3, ILCE-7M3K, ILCE-7RM3, ILCE-9

If you have one of those cameras, I would be happy to get feedback on how well it works with this app.

It does exactly what it's supposed to do consistently and reliably. It took a few tries to get it paired to my a7IV, but it has worked flawlessly since. It is so much easier to use than Sony's terrible companion app, which almost never works for me. I would love to see a Wear OS version in the future, possibly with the ability to add a shutter button tile to the home screen to quickly take a photo (if such a thing is possible).

Exactly what I needed, great OSS project! I was struggling to get my a6600 to pair with my phone using the official Sony app. This app immediately paired and does exactly all I need it to do. It seems to remember the bluetooth pairing between restarts, which unsurprisingly can't be said of the official Sony app. Thank you so much for making this!

It worked well with my former Sony Xperia 10 V. But not with my new OPPO phones, the A5 and Find X9 Pro. Both paired with my Sony RX100 M7 on Bluetooth but can't ADD Camera on the app. It recognised other Bluetooth devices nearby but not the RX100.

What’s new

- Combine bulb and intervalometer function
- Show remaining exposures for intervalometer
- Show video recording duration in the app
- Allow setting a duration for the trigger-on-focus trigger (relevant for bracketing shots)
- Fix: Recording state wrongly mapped to focus state
- Add warning if location service or Bluetooth scanning is disabled.
- Fix: Standby blocks intervalometer
- On Android 16 removing a camera will automatically unpair it.
