About this app

Regatta Start Timer runs the starting sequence for sailing races — the way a race committee actually does it. Set up your starts, choose the class and preparatory flags, and the app flies the flags on animated poles and sounds the signals at the right moments, fully aligned with the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 26).

Its standout feature: a live multi-area dashboard. Broadcast every committee boat's start sequence to one shared screen, so coaches, competitors and the race office can follow the flags, countdowns and finish times across every race area in real time — from anywhere.

Built on the water, for the water: no account, no sign-up, and it keeps working when the connection is flaky.

KEY FEATURES

• Live multi-area dashboard — the whole regatta on one screen. Each committee boat broadcasts its own area; the dashboard shows every area's flags, countdown and finish times live, side by side. Viewing is open or password-limited; publishing is password-protected.
• Full RRS 26 start sequence — warning, preparatory, one-minute and start signals, shown on animated flags-and-poles with countdowns.
• Postponement (AP), general recall and individual recall (X), handled by the rules with clean resume timing.
• Preparatory flags P, I, Z, U and Black — selectable per start.
• Built-in classes (ILCA 4 / 6 / 7, Optimist) plus your own: add any class with its own flag colour, label and emblem.
• Combined starts — two classes sharing a single start.
• Edit the schedule live — add, remove, reorder, combine and re-prep the still-pending starts mid-sequence.
• Voice recorder for the finish boat — read out sail numbers and share the clip with the race office for scoring. On Android it keeps recording with the screen off and the phone in your pocket.
• Horn output routing — send the horn to a Bluetooth speaker while the countdown beeps stay on the phone.

PRIVACY FIRST
No account, no tracking, no ads. Voice recordings stay on your device and are shared only when you choose to. Live sharing transmits race status only — never personal data.

Regatta Start Timer is part of a wider sailing toolkit — integration with madmin (regatta management) and optitrack (live GPS tracking) is planned.
