About this app

TagSpaces is a free file organizer that helps you tag, find and manage your files and folders — with no TagSpaces account and no tracking. Keep your files on your device or connect your own storage; TagSpaces never runs a cloud of its own or processes your files on its servers.

Add tags and colors to any file or folder, then browse, filter and search your collection your way. TagSpaces works with the files you already have, in their original folders, so you stay in full control.

KEY FEATURES
• Tag files and folders with keywords and colors
• Annotate any file or folder with a description
• Fast search and filtering by tags, names and content
• Multiple folder views: Grid and List perspectives
• Built-in viewers for images, videos, PDFs, Markdown and more
• Rich-text and Markdown editor for quick notes
• Works fully offline with local files — no account, no tracking, no ads
• Bring your own storage: connect Amazon S3 and S3-compatible buckets you control
• Open format: tags are stored in plain sidecar files you can read anywhere

WHY TAGSPACES
Unlike cloud galleries and note apps, TagSpaces never locks your files into a proprietary service. Your tags are saved right next to your files, so your organization travels with your data and stays readable even without the app. Nothing is uploaded to TagSpaces — your files stay on your device or in storage you own.

TAGSPACES PRO (optional in-app purchase)
Unlock the full power of TagSpaces with a one-time purchase — yours forever, no subscription:
• Extra perspectives: Kanban board, Gallery, Calendar, Mapique (map view) and FolderViz
• Geo-tagging and viewing files on a map
• File revisions and autosave for your notes
• Custom folder colors and background images
• And many more

PERFECT FOR
• Organizing photos, documents and downloads
• Researchers, writers and note-takers
• Anyone who wants a private alternative to cloud-locked file managers and note-taking apps.

Your files. Your tags. Your storage.

TagSpaces is also available on desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and the web, so you can organize the same folders everywhere.

I've been using TS across multiple devices since 2015. It's the closest thing to my ideal tagging software that exists. I wish I could endorse it here. It's a buggy mess. Tagging more than 20 files at once either takes ten minutes or crashes it outright. In the latest update that's on Google Play whole parts of the screen blank out constantly, you can't open files after a search, the UI is cluttered by a constant re-emerging "buy the full version" popup. So much more I don't have room to say.

Hot mess... with potential? Use this on PC, where it is very useful. Here it is just broken. Between execrable performance (load, tag, search), functions that appear to do nothing, silent failures, options that only work on PC (like being prompted to download a PC version to update my phone app), and constant nagging to upgrade to a paid version (which one assumes doesn't work any better) this is a hot mess and can't be recommended. Still, could be great, if it, you know, actually worked.

Has promise, but couldn't add locations from SD card. I tried connecting a location to my SD card, but it wouldn't even let me add the location. When you press the top folder with the ".." to go back a directory, it never recognized I had any other locations besides my root folder. Using a Samsung Note 10+ with Android 11.
