About this app

Palace is a free, easy-to-use e-reader app that lets you find, check out, and read or listen to books from your local library.

It’s been said that libraries are “palaces for the people” and the Palace app gives you instant access to your local “palace” any time, right from the palm of your hand.

All you need to sign up is your library card! And even if your library isn’t using Palace yet, you can still read more than 10,000 books--from children’s books to classics to foreign language books--for free from our Palace Bookshelf.

The Palace app is built and maintained by The Palace Project, a not-for-profit division of LYRASIS working in partnership with Digital Public Library of America with funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. For more, visit https://thepalaceproject.org.

Pretty decent number of books, it's well organized, user friendly interface, no hassle borrowing books, easy to sign up. It's infested with hateful woke nonsense. That's not to say there isn't material for everyone, it just obviously leans heavily in one direction. It also has an erotica book, but as long as you're 13 years old or over, you have access to it (and even crazier, it's in audio,). The reading formatting is lacking a bit, but you get what you don't pay for.

I keep having this issue where when I get to the end of an audiobook chapter, there will be a bunch of time left in the chapter, but there is no audio, just silence and the chapter timer continuing to count down, and if I fast forward, it skips back to a random place in the book. I have to manually go in to the beginning of each chapter and hit play again. It doesn't do it with every book, just some.

Well, there are reviews dating back months about how audiobooks can not be played. I regret to inform you that I downloaded the app for the first time today, and audiobooks give an error message that they can not be played. No reason, no troubleshooting. I only use audiobooks unless I'm reading a graphic novel, so... the app is useless to me.
