Once you get familiar try our new "Name That Trope" game. If you need some visual examples scroll through our Videos pages with thousands of trope examples. You can also use our Story Generator to help you come up with ideas for writing your own story using tropes as the building blocks.

For existing users you'll find all the main features such as editing, reviews, trope launch pad, etc. And some new features on the app including: badge shop, PM and Forum notifications, PM's in a single text-style format, new wiki walk experience, and much more.

The TVTropes app has many different sections so we've add the ability to customize what tabs you see.

Ratings and reviews

This app is a definite downgrade from using the website. Every time I leave the app to do anything else it either resets to the main page, losing what I was reading, or it crashes, causing the same effect. I moved to the app from the mobile website because the website suddenly stopped being readable on my phone unless I zoomed in. Changing my browser settings fixed that for a short while, but eventually that stopped, too. I imagine that was done to force us to use the app... Not impressed

While I am a big fan of TVTropes as a website, the app still has some issues. For one thing, pressing the back key on the bottom of my phone will not work and I have to press the key that is at the top of the screen for the app. Also queries can still be posted, but they cannot be marked as resolved on the app. But most perplexingly, recent edits will not appear on the app for about a day.

Love TVTropes, hate this app. Has a lot of consistent issues like the complete cessation of all touch interaction, keeping you from clicking on links or revealing spoiler text. I try it every few months and every time I am reminded of why I don't use it regularly. There is nothing the app can offer that using your browser can't do already, and if you're on Firefox you can also block the ads.
