About this app

Created by Deadheads, this app helps you enjoy the most exciting live recordings from Grateful Dead.

Download this app and put your headphones on - have a good trip!

Once labelled “the pioneering Godfathers of the jam band world”, Grateful Dead have never allowed their recorded material dictate live shows. The band would quite regularly allow the atmosphere of a crowd, venue or location dictate their rolling performances which, typically, meant that none of their concerts were the same.

Having performed playing more than 2,300 concerts during their active years, Grateful Dead managed to build a community spirit like no other during their touring days. With a devoted fanbase which became known as the ‘Deadheads’, the band would play just about anywhere for anybody as long as their music was appreciated—and it was. Having entered the record books for their commitment to live music, the Guinness Book of World Records triumphed the band and selected the Grateful Dead to take the title of “most rock concerts performed”.

This collection consists of both audience and soundboard recordings, hosted by archive.org. To share the music legally, this app follows the band’s policy of allowing free access to live recordings. You will find no studio recordings from here. Please read the below notice carefully if any concern. Or send me an email if any more questions.

From dead.net:
“Grateful Dead has come up with the following statement and guidelines regarding the use of our music on MP3. We want to make sure that the artists' rights as well as your privacy are not compromised. We have tried to address all those issues in the statement.”

STATEMENT TO MP3 SITE OPERATORS
The Grateful Dead and our managing organizations have long encouraged the purely non-commercial exchange of music taped at our concerts and those of our individual members. That a new medium of distribution has arisen - digital audio files being traded over the Internet - does not change our policy in this regard. Our stipulations regarding digital distribution are merely extensions of those long-standing principles and they are as follow:

No commercial gain may be sought by websites offering digital files of our music, whether through advertising, exploiting databases compiled from their traffic, or any other means.
All participants in such digital exchange acknowledge and respect the copyrights of the performers, writers and publishers of the music.
This notice should be clearly posted on all sites engaged in this activity.
We reserve the ability to withdraw our sanction of non-commercial digital music should circumstances arise that compromise our ability to protect and steward the integrity of our work.

I enjoy the music immensely and the variety. I experience problems though sometimes if a show gets interrupted, I can't go back and listen to it as it doesn't play. If interrupted at other times, it will play but a WIFI connection doesn't seem to be the issue especially since I can choose a different show. Good variety, hope other shows get added as well. Some missing shows that I'd love to hear, especially if they were SBD, Matrix, FM broadcast, or Dan Healy's "mini" FM broadcast to taper

This is wonderful. Stumbled across this looking for something else and decided to try this instead based on the ratings. Immediately found my 1st show from the Spectrum in 1973 and have been enjoying it repeatedly. If the rest of the recordings are as good as this one you won't hear from me for months.

awesome. what more can i say? dev took the time and did this out of love--there are no unnecessary permissions required that steal, sell or spy.. some are annoyed they can't share, cast etc.--tech was "low" when i first saw 'the boys' in '77--even audio tech wasn't what it's become over decades. can't just listening here be enough? if you wanna download and share stuff, try the archive online. this, here, is for listening--snd that sheer pleasure is mine. thank you so much for the love...
