About this app

Wamra is an application for mobile phones and tablets (Android operating system) for children 3 to 5 years learn through images and sounds, basic content of the alphabet, numbers, family, colors, body parts, animals , fruits and basic expressions in Lambayeque Quechua language.

This app is geared to serve as a tool to revitalize the language in the new generation of Amazon.

Quechua peoples know today as a large and diverse Andean populations longstanding whose native language Quechua, in different varieties together. Among the various Quechua peoples can locate Chopcca, the chankas, huancas, the huaylas, the Kanas, the q'ero and Canaris. Together, these populations constitute a majority of the indigenous population in Peru.

Today, these people live mainly in the mountains of Peru and neighboring countries like Bolivia and Ecuador. However, there is an important group of native language Quechua population who for various reasons have migrated to the capital cities of departments.

In Peru I contemporary Quechua presence is felt throughout the territory. In recent years the cultural identities that had been homogenised primarily by the label "Indian" and towns have emerged as q'ero and -for Chopcca mention just claim their ancestral two-. Although it seems diffuse or deep mixed with Hispanic culture, the cultural matrix Quechua remains valid in the XXI century through different expressions.

This App is part of Adaptation and Research Project in Information Systems on Biodiversity, Environment, Biocomercio and Biotechnology - SITEC II, BIOINFO program of the Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon - IIAP, with the support of the Ministry of Culture that aims to safeguard the native languages ​​of the Peruvian Amazon.

It is an institution of scientific research and technology development, specializing in the sustainable use of biodiversity in the Amazon region that carries out its activities in a decentralized manner, promoting the participation of public, private and civil society institutions.
