Academic Assistant is a website and application designed to support the learning process and work of students and employees of the Jagiellonian University. Both the website and the application consist of three modules: mind maps, task boards and an editor for creating and modifying notes.
Mind maps, i.e. visual notes, allow you to note down and present learning content in a way that makes it easier to remember and later recall the material. The use of mind maps significantly increases the efficiency of work and learning. The user can create, save and edit maps.
In the middle of the mind map there is a key word, from which subsequent issues related to the main topic depart with arrows. The mind map can be expanded to many levels of nesting. The map can be personalized, among others: in terms of the color of the bubbles, background and branches, typeface. You can also modify its size. The finished mind map can be exported to graphics and saved to disk. Thanks to the "export" option, it can also be transformed into an outline in the form of points and sub-points.
The text editing function allows you to create notes in a traditional way. When working with text, we can conveniently edit it by selecting the font size, typeface and color as well as the background color. You can specify the line spacing and space between characters. The editor has the option of bolding, italicizing, underlining and deleting selected fragments of text. The program identifies and highlights spelling errors, also in the English version of the application. We can also import documents into the editor in odt, doc, docx and txt formats. The editor allows you to create an outline up to the 20th nesting level and export it to mind maps.
The application has the function of reading text in the application using a voice synthesizer with the ability to track (change the background color, font size and/or font color - defined by the user) the text read by the synthesizer.
The "speech to text" function allows you to save dictated statements (for both Polish and English).
The application is intended to enable the creation, editing and saving of a mind map; creating, editing and saving text in an outline even without Internet connection.
Task lists are an option that allows you to record events and actions to be performed. The to-do list is correlated with the calendar connected to your university inbox. Its utility value is enriched by sound and text prompts, reminding about upcoming events or items from the list that need to be completed. You can select the "remind me later" function. Completed tasks can be checked off or deleted.
