About this app

Art project in augmented reality (AR). Discover virtual sculptures in your surroundings, inspired by the fantastic phenomena described in the novel 'Solaris' by Stanisław Lem.

SOL.AR.IS is a virtual space where the recipient has the opportunity to interact in real time with ephemeral, virtual 3D objects inspired by the cytoplasmic, intelligent ocean that covers the Solaris planet - mimoids, symmetries or asymmetries, fantastic phenomena described in the science-fiction novel 'Solaris' written by Stanisław Lem.

After scanning the space in the application, you will discover animated sculptures placed in the AR space, designed by the following artists: Oliver Latt from Germany, Yuma Yanagisawa from Japan, Uwe Rieger and Yinan Liu from New Zealand and Zsolt Laszlo Bordos and Gaspar Battha from Hungary. Ambient soundscapes for each of the objects were composed by the Iranian audiovisual artist Ali Phi.

The project is commissioned by Photon Foundation and subsidised by the National Centre for Culture under the programme ‘Kultura w sieci’.
