About this app

PosteID is the official App of Poste Italiane for the new digital identity that allows access to the services of the Public Administration and private individuals affiliated with the Public Digital Identity System (SPID).

REGISTRATION WITH ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT
If you are in possession of an electronic document - Identity Card (CIE) or Passport - you can use the PosteID App to carry out your identification online, without going to the post office.

REGISTRATION WITH BANK TRANSFER
As an alternative to registering with an electronic document, you can use the PosteID App to make your online identification and then complete the request by making a transfer from an Italian account in your name or joint name.

ACCESS WITHOUT PASSWORD USING QR CODE
You can authorize access requests with the use of a QR Code. Just scan the QR Code shown on the login page of the service and enter the PosteID code on the App.

ACCESS WITH FINGERPRINT
You can quickly authorize access with a fingerprint as an alternative to the PosteID code.
To enable the fingerprint you must have an Android smartphone (from version 6.0 onwards).

ACCESS WITH SPID 3 LEVEL
To authorize access to services that require SPID 3, you must be in possession of the SPID 3 PIN. To obtain it, connect to your personal area on https://posteid.poste.it

USE THE APP AS A PIN GENERATOR
You can also access the services with a temporary PIN generated in the App, even if this is off-line.

Once you have generated the PIN, it will be entered on the login page of the service, after having entered your username and password.

NFC Reading of the passport took some 8 attempts. The picture of the document under your face is transposed horizontally, making it very challenging to take the picture. Has the developer even tried the app before releasing it? Image recognition of the characters under the passport was hit and miss, took a LOT of attempts. Seems to have worked in the end, but the preview of the images was so pixelated that I don't know if it is actually good enough or not.

After entering all info, exactly as required, you just receive an email stating that they can not verify some information. No details on exactly what's wrong, no way to correct it. There was absolutely no thought put into the design and functionality of this app. Also, there should be some way of requesting assistance online other than making a call. Many of us who need to use an app to register for SPID are in different timezones, otherwise we would do an in-person recognition.

Went all well up to the stage where you fill your residence addresse details, the apps couldn't generate the lists of italian cities nor its related CAp number so it crashes at this stage. I can send a screenshotbif needed. Please fix it!
