"Learning Math with Your Child" is an application for parents with elementary school children. The app guides adults on how to teach math to their children from grades 1-5; it's not an app for children to learn independently.
A simple math problem for an adult may not be simple for a child. Knowing the answer is one thing, explaining it in a way your child understands is another. Each problem in the app is written for parents to read first, then use their own words to guide their child.
For each type of problem, parents have:
• Identifying clues: what the problem is asking the child to do.
• Things parents need to know before teaching.
• Suggestions on how to explain to the child in short, specific, age-appropriate language.
• Step-by-step instructions, not just providing the answer.
• Example solutions.
• Common mistakes children make and how to correct them without immediately stating the answer.
• Open-ended questions to encourage the child to think for themselves.
• Practice questions for parents to give their children.
Content:
• Math lessons for grades 1 to 5, organized by grade level, topic, and lesson.
• Lessons are grouped into common formats, avoiding repetition.
• Entirely in Vietnamese, compiled by "Learn Math with Your Child".
Who is this app for?
Parents, caregivers, tutors, and elementary math teachers. The app is not for children to use independently: no games, no child accounts, and no collection of children's information.
Cost:
• Free to download. The first few lessons for each grade level are accessible immediately, no login required.
• Remaining lessons require in-app credit; access is perpetual.
• No ads.
Little by little each day, parents can build a strong foundation in math with their children from the early years.
