AbookTome is a convenient audiobook player for books already on your device. This is not a store or an online catalog — the app does not sell or offer books for purchase or download. It simply plays your own audio files, turning a messy pile of MP3s or M4Bs into a neat library.
Just point the app to one or more folders with your audiobooks — AbookTome will automatically find all files, recognise authors, and even merge multi-volume series into a single cycle if your books are organised in subfolders. If your folder structure is non-standard, you can always manually merge books into a series with just a few taps. The library can be viewed as a list, by folders, or by authors, and the quick text or voice search and filters (Not Started, In Progress, Finished) will help you instantly find the right book even in a large collection.
The player supports playback speed from 0.5x to 2.0x, chapter navigation in M4B files, and instant jump to any point in the book — by time or percentage. For those who love precision, there is a detailed timeline with zoom down to the second and a history of the last five listening positions — handy if you accidentally rewound to the wrong place. Bookmarks with text notes help you return to important moments, and separate progress tracking for individual books and whole cycles shows how much is left to listen.
AbookTome is especially useful before bed. The sleep timer can be set to a specific time or to the end of the current file, and if you're not ready to sleep when it triggers — just shake the phone gently, and it will extend without opening your eyes. The timeline highlight immediately shows exactly how much you listened to during your last session, so finding where you fell asleep is easy. There is also the reverse: place your phone face down, and playback will instantly pause.
To prevent accidental touches, there is a lock screen with a large playback button and unlock via swipe. AbookTome also supports light and dark themes, an adaptive layout for tablets with a side navigation panel, and quick library rescanning when needed.
