The Federation of Free Trade Unions in Romania (FSLR) fights to protect the rights and improve the working conditions of employees.
The Federation of Free Trade Unions in Romania (FSLR) is an independent, politically unaffiliated trade union organization dedicated to the defense of workers' rights in Romania. Affiliated to the National Trade Union Bloc, we responsibly and loyally represent the interests of over 12,500 members in the shipbuilding, textile and automotive subcomponents sectors.
FSLR is representative at the level of the shipbuilding activity sector, representativeness achieved in 2023, and through our actions, we are firmly committed to promoting a constructive social dialogue and supporting collective negotiations, ensuring that the voice of both our members and others workers, is heard and respected both in the relationship with employers and with public institutions in Romania.
In an economic and social context in an accentuated dynamic, the role and importance of trade union organizations alongside the interest of workers are elements that constitute an integral part of the mix of ingredients necessary to ensure social peace and support the green and climate transition. We are at the forefront of the fight for social and economic justice, representing with responsibility and loyalty the interests of workers so that ensuring an integrated representation process, fully synergistic with societal realities is both a moral and institutional responsibility.
Understanding the complexity of the social and economic phenomena generated by the green and climate transition, the generation of skills but also the provision of resources in order to ensure a qualitative representation process requires an operational capacity capable of facing such challenges. To respond to this need, we are implementing the Operational Consolidation of the Federation of Free Trade Unions in Romania project, the European Social Fund+ project, a project that contributes, among other things, to the modernization of the institutions and services of the labor market in Romania.
Through the activities we undertake daily, at national or European level, we aim to assess and anticipate skills needs, offer prompt and personalized assistance to our members and support the correlation of demand and supply on the Romanian labor market. The project has a national coverage, targeting all development regions in Romania, with an implementation headquarters in the South-East region.
Increasing the capacity of trade union organizations is a constant concern for our federation and this approach is achieved by providing an integrated package of support services through which we want to strengthen the capacity of trade union organizations to actively participate in social dialogue and collective negotiations both at company level as well as at the sectoral level. Monitoring the implementation of collective labor contracts in order to comply with all articles stipulated in these contracts is an essential part of this objective.
The improvement of quality and expertise is addressed through the periodic organization of professional training courses combining economic, legal and social notions with the green and digital transition. We also periodically organize information campaigns and facilitate access to good practices that will strengthen knowledge and improve social dialogue and public policies on the labor market.
Through this approach, FSLR is committed to increasing the quality of the representation process, building a better future for all workers in Romania, adapting to modern challenges and promoting a robust and effective social dialogue, i.e. one that is synergistic with economic and social challenges which workers in Romania have to manage.
