About this app

The Sensor-Tech laboratory has developed a device and application “Charlie” to help deaf and deaf-blind people communicate at home and in urban environments.

The Charlie device recognizes speech in real time and translates it into text. The interlocutor can type the answer on a regular keyboard, a Braille display, through a browser or the Charlie mobile application.

There are two modes available in the application: “user” and “administrative”

Custom mode features of the Charlie app:

- login to the application with and without connecting to the Charlie device
- connect to the current conversation on your Charlie device via Bluetooth or the Internet (by scanning the QR code through the application)
- saving the current dialogue
- ability to view and send saved conversations

Features of the administrative mode of the Charlie application:

- login to the application with and without connecting to the Charlie device
- demo view of all application functions
- connection to the Charlie device via Bluetooth
- saving the current dialogue
- ability to view and send saved conversations
- information about the device charge
- connection of the Charlie device via Wi-Fi
- displaying the name of the operator of the “Charlie” device on the monitor screen connected to the “Charlie” device
- setting up the microphones of the Charlie device
- adjusting the font size on the monitor screen
- turning on the window with the LCD on the monitor screen
- enable dialogue translation
- selection of recognition language
- connecting a Braille display via Bluetooth
