About this app

We are the only UK charity focused on tackling the problems caused by pesticides and promoting safe and sustainable alternatives in agriculture, urban areas, homes and gardens. We work to reduce the impacts of harmful pesticides to both human health and the environment.
Our mobile app has been created to give a voice to communities who are experiencing frequent and serious health impacts from hazardous pesticides. Did you know:
- An estimated 44% of farmers suffer acute unintentional pesticide poisoning symptoms every year.
- Cotton is associated with particularly heavy use of pesticides, including the most dangerous Highly Hazardous Pesticides.
- Champions of conventional cotton continue to question the scale of the problem of acute pesticide poisoning and large scale data will enable us to challenge this view more effectively.

The PAN UK mobile app works by collecting data from farmers across the world in a standardised and effective way. It’s purpose is to identify pesticide products and farm practices associated with signs and symptoms of acute pesticide poisoning. The results will inform efforts to prevent these harms and adopt safer practices, eventually helping to protect the livelihoods, health and environment of millions of rural families.
