A supplier of last resort is a power supply company that has the status of a supplier of last resort. The status of a supplier of last resort obliges to accept for service all customers (individuals and legal entities, various state bodies and institutions) located in the area of ​​activity (indicated by the decision of the regulatory body).
The supplier of last resort does not have individual pricing conditions. All consumers (legal entities) buy electricity on the same terms at marginal unregulated prices (with a fixed sales margin) and payment schedule, according to the methods and conditions approved by the legislation.
An independent energy retail company is not bound by a fixed sales margin and an approved payment schedule, enters into free power supply contracts, and thus has the opportunity to provide its consumer customers with individual conditions.
A supplier of last resort "guarantees" only that it will accept for service any consumer who has applied to it. All other guarantees for power supply companies are the same and are regulated by law.
