DEVELOPED BY OUR TRUSTED PARTNERS, LEAP

RiseupVPN is developed by our trusted partner, LEAP Encryption Access Project. Founded in 2012, LEAP is dedicated to giving all internet users access to secure communication. There are many fronts in the fight against the enclosure of the internet and the relentless efforts to surveil and monetize our lives. LEAP is part of the growing effort to expand the use of circumvention technology to protect us from government and corporate incursion into our online lives. https://leap.se

MORE TRANSLATIONS!

We want to continue to expand the use of VPNs, and translations are critical to this effort. Contributions to this effort are greatly appreciated and can be done here: Transifex project https://app.transifex.com/otf/bitmask/dashboard/

THE IMPORTANCE OF TRUSTED VPNs

At Riseup, we believe it is important for everyone to use some technology like VPN or Tor to encrypt their internet traffic. Why? Because the internet is being broken by governments, internet service providers (ISPs), and corporations. Read more about this here, https://riseup.net/en/vpn/why-is-needed, use our free VPN, and please don’t forget to donate so we can keep providing this valuable service.

Used to work without issue and now unfortunately cannot connect at all. Updating certificate when prompted doesn't actually update, just sends into a loading loop with no resolution. Shows key icon in upper notification bar while in loading loop and prevents any connectivity at all. Will wait up to 20 minutes, still no connection. Haven't been able to connect at all for several months now.

Honestly a pretty good VPN for being free + not requiring an account. No data limits at all and the speeds are also decent. Only gripe is that it would be nice if there were more servers but this is a first install for any phone unless you have a paid vpn already. Bittmask should be the exact same experience under a different skin.

This is OK - if it's true what they say about logs, etc. The issues are that there are hardly any servers to connect to (which I could be good with), but it's not good at getting around restrictions, such as some public "guest" networks. Before someone yells "user error", other VPN's do, in my experience.
