About this app

ParkGratis helps you find free parking, customer parking and low-cost spots near any address, mall or supermarket in Sweden.

Parking data for all of Sweden ships inside the app — searches and spot details work on the device itself. Map imagery, address search and walking routes are fetched over the network.

WHAT YOU GET
• Colour-coded P-signs: green = free, teal = store/customer parking, blue = paid, grey = unknown.
• Can I park here? One answer for the map's centre, weighing street rules, fee hours and bans together — and it says "unknown" rather than guessing.
• Street rules for all of Sweden: 89,348 regulations from 279 municipalities on fees, time limits, date parking (datumparkering) and parking bans — in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala, Örebro, Linköping, Helsingborg, Västerås, Karlstad and beyond.
• Satellite view with aerial imagery over 60 municipalities — see the entrance, the barrier and where the bays are before you set off.
• EV charging points: 10,369 in Sweden, from NOBIL (Energimyndigheten) and OpenStreetMap.
• Plan ahead: set a start time and minimum duration, and spots that close too soon drop out.
• My car: save where you parked and get reminders before the max time runs out, before the fee starts and ahead of the cleaning night — so no fine for time that ran out while you were elsewhere.
• Paste a Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze link into the search field and ParkGratis finds parking there.
• Search for a shop, school or place by name, not just an address. Save favourites, Home and Work.
• Pay shortcuts to common parking apps.
• Read the sign with the camera: point at the pole and it is interpreted on the phone — the picture is never uploaded. Service day and street-cleaning day, date parking, residential parking permits, time limits and fee hours are read panel by panel, with the clock, the weekday and public holidays folded in, and whatever it could not read is marked as just that. An interpretation aid — the sign on the spot counts.

DATE PARKING AND CLEANING NIGHTS
Rules that alternate with even and odd dates or weeks are decoded where the municipality has published them — among them Gothenburg, Solna, Umeå, Karlstad, Stockholm, Mölndal, Malmö, Östersund, Gävle and Örebro. Where one cannot be decoded, the app says so instead of guessing.

BUILT FOR PRIVACY
No account, no sign-in. No analytics, no tracking. Your settings, searches and saved places stay on your device.

The app may show occasional sponsored places near the map area you are viewing, or near a destination you chose. They are always labelled "Sponsrad", never affect which car parks are listed, their order, price or whether they count as free, and can be turned off in Settings. A sponsored place with an offer gives you a single-use QR code to show at the till, valid for 15 minutes. Tap "Använd erbjudande" (use offer) and the app sends a random device id not linked to you, plus your position — compared only with the business's location to check you are nearby, and not stored.

ABOUT THE DATA AND SOURCES
Street rules come from municipalities' own local traffic regulations, published by Transportstyrelsen in Svensk trafikföreskriftssamling (STFS).
https://rdt.transportstyrelsen.se/rdt/defaultstfs.aspx

Every rule can be looked up against its regulation. Where they differ, the regulation and the sign on the spot win.

Parking places come from OpenStreetMap. Either source can be incomplete or out of date, and a regulation can change before the app's dataset does — which is why spots show as "unknown" or "likely free" instead of a firm answer where the source is silent.

What’s new
