The Slovenian multimodal journey planner offers a comprehensive, reliable accurate user-friendly platform.
Managed by the National Traffic Management Center (NTMC) and supported by data from the National Access Point (NAP.si), SiMO simplifies travel planning by combining personal, scheduled, and demand-based transportation options.
SiMO eliminates fragmented information by gathering all travel modes and mobility services - particularly public passenger transport - into one application. Users can easily search, compare, and plan their journeys, allowing them to make more informed, sustainable travel decisions.
How Does SiMO Work?
Whether you're a daily commuter, a tourist, or planning a longer trip, SiMO provides tailored results for a wide variety of travel needs.
1. Enter your journey details
Users can define the origin, destination, and optional intermediate stop points, along with the date and time of departure or arrival. SiMO offers further customization by letting users choose their preferred transport modes (including car-pooling for example), set maximum walking distances, and specify accessibility requirements.
2. Optimise your journey
SiMO allows users to sort results by criteria such as earliest departure, fewest transfers, shortest duration, least walking, or eco-friendliness. Once users are satisfied with their settings, the platform displays calculated results, which can be modified at any time to further refine the journey.
3. Visualize your journey
Selected journeys are displayed in detail both descriptively and on an interactive map. Users can view comprehensive information, including chosen transport modes, departure and arrival times, total distance of the planned trip. The interactive map distinguishes between different modes of transport and highlights all stop points, providing users with a seamless experience.
Users can save their favourite routes, share feedback, and explore Slovenia's full range of mobility options - all while ensuring their data privacy is protected.
SiMO Architecture
SiMO runs on a multi-layered software architecture designed for efficiency and scalability. The system is divided into three core components:
1. Frontend (Client): The mobile and web applications that handle user interactions.
2. Middleware: Processes requests and implements business logic.
3. Backend: Manages data and ensures reliable data flow.
Communication between the frontend and middleware systems is managed via an Application Programming Interface - REST API.
