I'm excited to share that Space Trooper Retro Resurgence v1.0 has officially launched! This vertical scrolling shooter combines classic arcade gameplay with contemporary improvements that enhance the traditional formula.
Development Journey
This marks my debut game release, created while learning how to use SDL2 using C/C++. The development process spanned several months of coding, testing, and refinement to deliver a polished arcade experience.
Game Features
The game includes 10 progressively challenging levels, each featuring unique mission objectives. Professional voiceover narration guides players through mission briefings, explaining objectives and tactical considerations for each stage. Time-critical missions require players to either survive within specified timeframes or eliminate target quotas of enemy forces.
Technical Foundation
The game runs on custom-built code architecture that prioritizes performance and player responsiveness. Every system, from enemy AI patterns to weapon mechanics, was programmed specifically for this title.
Future Development Plans
The roadmap includes substantial content expansions featuring diverse player ship selections and expanded enemy vessel varieties. I'm simultaneously developing a proprietary game engine with enhanced configurability options. While established game development tools exist, creating custom solutions provides deeper understanding of game architecture and unlimited creative control.
