Mirror uses Android's accessibility service (AccessibilityService API) to see which app is on your screen and, in your browser, the address of the site you have open: that is how it shows the blocking screen and counts your time on the apps and sites you chose. It never reads your messages, your passwords or anything else on your screen. This information stays on your phone; it only reaches us if you write to us from the app, where a technical report is attached to your message.

One honest caveat: on Android, blocking is strong deterrence, not an unbreakable wall. You can always push through. Mirror isn't here to lock you out — it's here to turn an automatic gesture into a conscious decision.
