VisualDevLoc is the official data collection application for local development projects of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in the Democratic Republic of Congo (EITI-DRC).
It allows for the documentation, geolocation, and tracking of local development projects funded by the financing mechanisms provided for in the DRC Mining Code, thereby strengthening their traceability and transparency.
■ MAIN FEATURES
- Project registration with its precise GPS location and key information: title, responsible entity, funding source, amounts, administrative location, etc.
- Taking geotagged photos directly from the application to document the project's status on the ground.
- Profiles describing each entity implementing projects. Option to add supplementary documents (PDFs, images, office files) to these forms
- Validation workflow: Collectors' submissions are reviewed, then approved or returned with a reason by the validators of each entity implementing projects.
- Interactive project map for easy visualization.
■ DESIGNED FOR THE FIELD
- Offline mode: Data entry remains possible without a network connection, with automatic synchronization as soon as the connection is restored — designed for areas with poor coverage.
- Simple interface, in French, adapted for field use.
■ RESTRICTED ACCESS
- VisualDevLoc is intended for entities implementing local development projects (mining companies, specialized organizations, decentralized territorial entities). Access is via a user account created by EITI-DRC: there is no open registration.
- The collected data (photos, location, and project information) is published on the public VisualDevLoc map for transparency purposes. For more information, please see our privacy policy.
