itter.Mapper is a mobile app for recording and mapping beach litter in a fast, accurate, and standardized way.

Marine litter is a major pressure on marine ecosystems. Beach litter monitoring is a key indicator of pollution in European seas and forms part of international agreements such as OSPAR and HELCOM. Traditionally, this monitoring relies on paper forms and manual data transfer, which can be time-consuming and error-prone.

Litter.Mapper replaces paper-based surveys with a digital solution for smartphones and tablets, allowing litter to be recorded directly in the field.

What’s new

Survey tables and uploaded litter records now preserve the original order in which observations were added. Surveys can also be shared without photographs, producing smaller ZIP files for easier transfer.
