Redact is a simple privacy screen for Android that places a translucent overlay over your screen so nearby people have a harder time reading what is on your phone in public places.

No ads, no account, and no Internet permission.
Your settings stay on your device, and Redact cannot upload your app list, screen content, or personal data.

Use Redact when you are checking messages, reviewing personal information, or opening sensitive apps around other people. Turn the overlay on manually whenever you need it, or choose specific apps where Redact should appear automatically.

How selected-app mode works:
Redact uses Android accessibility access to detect which app is currently in the foreground. This is used only to decide whether the privacy overlay should be shown for apps you select. Redact does not read screen content, capture screenshots, or upload your app list or settings.

Permissions used:
- Display over other apps: draws the privacy overlay above other apps
Accessibility service: detects the foreground app for selected-app activation
Notifications and foreground service: keeps the overlay running while it is active
- Query installed apps: lets you choose which apps should trigger the overlay
Redact is designed to stay quiet and focused: a small utility for moments when your screen needs a little more privacy.
