About this app

Grenby is a Wear OS watch face built around a chronograph layout: a full sixty-second index around the rim, hour numerals at 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10, and three sub-dials across the middle of the face.

Each sub-dial is a complication slot. A ring of tick marks runs around it, and when the data carries a progress value the ring fills with colour tick by tick rather than drawing a separate bar over the top, so the reading stays part of the dial. Out of the box the left dial shows step count, the bottom one unread notifications and the right one watch battery.

Three more slots follow the curve of the bezel, one along the top and two along the lower edge. The top slot carries longer text and starts on your next calendar event. The two lower slots are short text and start on watch battery and sunrise and sunset. Tap any slot to open the app behind it, or swap all six for whatever you actually use.

The two slot shapes accept different data. The three circular dials take ranged values, goal progress, weighted elements, short text, monochrome icons and small images. The three curved slots take text only: long text on the top slot, short text on the two lower ones.

Colour is split across nine independent controls, each drawing from the same 72-colour palette:

- hour marks
- seconds index
- seconds numerals
- hands
- second hand
- complication text
- complication icons and progress arcs
- complication background
- hand accent, used by the two-tone hand sets

Hands come in fourteen sets and second hands in nine, mixed and matched freely. The date block has two forms: digital time above the full weekday and date, or the short weekday and date above the month spelled out. The clock follows your system 12 or 24 hour setting.

Six presets ship with the face if you would rather not start from a blank slate. Amber, Mono, Steel, Sand, Ember and Mint each set every colour control at once, and you can keep tuning from there.

Night mode is a switch you flip yourself. It drops the whole face to a single deep red so you can read the time in the dark without a bright screen.

Always-on display has its own controls: dim the face, hide the three centre dials, and turn the transition animation on or off.

An optional companion app is available for Android. It makes installing the face easier and lets you follow the rest of the Time Flies catalogue, and Grenby works fully without it.

Requires Wear OS 5.1 or later.
