The "Golden Horse Awards" was founded in 1962. At first, it was just an award competition held by the government to promote the production of domestic films and recognize outstanding filmmakers. The two characters "Golden Horse" are taken from the first characters of Kinmen and Matsu; it also conforms to the trend that major film festivals around the world are called "golden signs". Since its establishment, the full name has been changed to "Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival". It is not only the most important film and cultural event of the year in Taiwan, but also has four main activities: the Golden Horse Awards has become the highest honor for Chinese-language and Chinese film creation; the Golden Horse International Film Festival is the best platform for Taiwanese people to get in touch with outstanding films from all over the world; the Golden Horse Venture Capital Conference strives to provide film and television creators with investment and distribution opportunities for cooperation; the Golden Horse Film Academy uses the inheritance of masters to enhance the ability and vision of young creators.
