The FoodEngine order-taking app turns any Android tablet into a complete kitchen order station for restaurants on the FoodEngine platform.

When a customer places an order on your website or ordering page, it lands on your tablet within seconds - with a loud alert that plays even when the tablet is on silent, so a busy kitchen never misses an order.

WHAT IT DOES
- Shows every incoming order on a clear, large-text board - delivery, collection and dine-in, colour-coded and sorted so the next job is obvious.
- One- and two-tap workflow: accept an order, mark it preparing, then ready or out for delivery. No fiddly menus.
- Loud new-order alarm that sounds even on silent, and keeps the screen awake so staff never have to wake the tablet.
- Automatic ticket printing the moment you accept - to a Bluetooth or WiFi thermal printer. Reprint any ticket with one tap.
- Live order updates: the board refreshes instantly as orders come in and change, with a reliable fallback if the connection drops.
- Pause a service (for example stop delivery during a rush) or switch on Busy Mode to extend quoted times - straight from the tablet.
- Mark menu items as sold out so customers cannot order what you have run out of.
- End-of-day summary: orders, takings and your best-selling items.

WHO IT IS FOR
This app is for restaurant kitchen and counter staff. It runs as a dedicated, locked-down kiosk on a tablet you keep in the kitchen - staff stay in the order app and cannot wander off to other apps. A 4-digit PIN unlocks it for maintenance.

HOW IT CONNECTS
The app signs in with your FoodEngine restaurant account and talks securely (HTTPS) to the FoodEngine platform. Orders taken on your customer-facing ordering page flow straight to the tablet; status changes you make flow back to the customer's confirmation and emails. No separate setup - log in and go.

REQUIREMENTS
- An Android tablet (Android 8.0 or newer).
- A FoodEngine restaurant account.
- A Bluetooth or WiFi/network (port 9100) thermal receipt printer for ticket printing (optional, but recommended for the kitchen).

What’s new

Never miss an order:
- The new-order alarm now sounds on every screen, not just the orders list, and even when the screen is off or the app is in the background.
- The alarm is shorter.
- Freshly set-up tablets are now asked for the Bluetooth permission on first launch, and a clear "Grant permission" prompt appears if it is ever missing, so the built-in printer works straight away.
