About this app

The Ancient Greek Keyboard allows you to enter ancient Greek characters and diacritics.

Main features of the app are typing ancient Greek diacritics, reference and editorial marks (Ͻ, Ͼ, Ͽ, ※, ⸖), composite or decomposed characters, word suggestions, validate diacritic entries, light and dark themes.

Also contains numerals and other extra characters that can be accessed by long-pressing keys. Κ contains ϗ and Ϙ. Υ⁶ contains Ϝ and Ϛ. Ο⁹ contains Ϟ, Ϡ and Ͳ. Π⁰ contains numeral signs [ʹ] (Keraia) and [͵] (Left Keraia).

Once installed, enable the new keyboard via the prompt, or in the System Languages Settings. Go to Languages & input > On-screen keyboard > Manage On-screen keyboards. To switch between keyboards long press the space bar, or press the keyboard icon in the action bar.

The word suggestions are from source material. There are over 160,000 words including their various inflections.

Ratings and reviews

The most convenient of the Ancient Greek keyboards that I've found so far in terms of visuals, diacritic input, and more. I originally rated this three stars due to the lack of haptic feedback, but that was just because I couldn't find the settings menu, where haptic feedback can be turned on. I've since updated my review to five stars. Perhaps having some sort of gear icon would make it easier to find the settings. I also find it strange that haptic feedback is off by default, but that's fine.

This is the only reliable keyboard app for typing in Ancient Greek. While the interface could use some minor improvements, it remains very useful. Additionally, its built-in dictionary is incredibly helpful

This is the best Ancient Greek Keyboard app I've ever used. It's clean, functional and beautiful to look at. The word suggestion system and capitalisation functions are making it very easy to those of us that need to write especially longer texts. At first I couldn't find a way to change language layout, (probably because this is my first Android phone) or type the digamma, koppa, san, sampi, as well as add or take away suggested words. But the developer was very prompt to give me the simple solution to those... a double tap on the space button, or a longer press on certain keys, which reveals the whole spectrum of alphabetic signs of Ancient Greek. Many thanks for the good app and the quick responses of the developer! I wish I could add 10 stars to the review. Stunning! Εὖγε! Κῦδος!
