Tap a phrase. Your phone says it out loud, in their language. No typing, no waiting, no signal needed.
TapSay is a phrasebook built for the three seconds when you actually need it: at a taxi window, a pharmacy counter, a market stall. Everything in the core app runs offline on your device, so it works on a dead SIM, on a plane, or in a country where your usual translation app is blocked.

Speaking, browsing, the keypad and your saved phrases all work with no connection. Download once and travel.
17 LANGUAGES, BOTH WAYS
English, Vietnamese, Chinese (Simplified, Traditional, Cantonese), Korean, Japanese, Thai, Russian, Indonesian, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi and Italian. Pick your language and the language you need; every phrase is shown in both, with romanization for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Russian, Arabic and Hindi.
BUILT FOR THREE KINDS OF PEOPLE
- Travellers: 27 categories of real situations (food, taxis, hotels, pharmacies, payments, emergencies) with the most-used phrases floating to the top.
- Shop owners and drivers: Merchant mode flips the direction. Pick the customer's language, tap what you need to say, and let them tap a reply.
- People who cannot speak: AAC mode speaks for you in your own language, with a quick strip of essentials always one tap away.
SHOW, THEN SPEAK
Big, high-contrast text the other person can read across a counter. Flip mode turns it upside down for them. Tap again to speak, long-press to speak slowly.
NUMBERS AND PRICES
A keypad that reads amounts out loud in the local way, with the local currency word. Large-denomination currencies get a 000 key.
MANUAL MODE
Type or dictate anything in your language and see it translated live on device (Google translation packs). The other person can type their reply back to you.

Save the sentences you keep needing. Search community templates or write your own.

No account. No ads. The app sends only an anonymous install id, phrase usage counts and the custom phrases you choose to submit for the community catalogue. Nothing else leaves your phone.
