Most VPN apps run on rented virtual servers in ordinary data centers and pay ordinary prices to move traffic. We own our machines and put them inside the internet exchanges where the world's major networks physically meet β DE-CIX in Frankfurt and Any2 in Los Angeles. From there we peer directly with the places people actually go, major sites, social media, and so on: fewer hops to your destination, and far less paid to carry the traffic. We would rather tell you what the app sends than print a slogan. It sends an advertising identifier, which is how a device is recognised without a login, and a running total of how much data you have used, which is how the 1 GB is counted. If you turn the advertising identifier off in Android settings, the app respects that.

Some networks block things, slow them down, or filter what you can reach. Rather than pick one protocol and hope, the app opens several routes and keeps whichever is working. If one way out stops working, it looks for another without asking you.

Android asks your permission the first time and shows a key icon the whole time it is on. It runs only while you have it switched on; switching it off puts your traffic straight back onto the normal network.

There is also a setting that sends anonymous connectivity probes β which routes are reaching our servers and which are not. Nothing about what you browse is in them.
