This is NOT a Logitech Harmony alternative, seriously... By FAR, the U1 is the worst remote that I have ever waisted time on. The IR is useless unless you enjoy trying to snipe your device from 6ft away. It is a frustratingly futile process to get it to "learn IR". The Bluetooth has few device options and cuts out frequently. I've owned it for 3 years now and every time I try to get it to work with a device, it is disappointing.

App best summed up as "barely adequate". Consistently can't connect to the hub. I was able to get the hub set up and can use the remote, but the app can't connect to it even though I see it on my network. The troubleshooting instructions say to make sure your phone is on the "2.4GHz network", which most modern smartphones and mesh networks make impossible. Why is that even necessary? If you do manage to connect, the app works well enough, but that's about it.

This is the second time I try Sofabaton. They now support Onkyo. The application is simple to use, but it does not remember your existing device, it rediscover every time. I found the IR learning confusing at first, but I discovered that the two remotes must be really close, and keep the button down until the U2 shows Success!. Otherwise the macro feature is not as sophisticated as Harmony, but it is easy to setup and does what I need.
