About this app

smbCloud Browser is a web browser built on Servo, an independent engine written in Rust.

Nearly every browser you can install on Android is a shell around the same engine. Servo is a genuinely separate rendering path, developed in the open, and this app packages it as a real Android application. No account, no sign-in, and it is ad-free.

WHAT'S HERE TODAY

• An address bar that searches when what you type isn't a URL
• DuckDuckGo search, with no tracking profile handed to a search company
• Back, forward, reload, and stop
• History you can read, revisit, and clear
• Links from other apps open here once you set it as your default
• An experimental-features switch in Settings, for web platform work still being built

HONEST ABOUT WHERE IT IS

Servo is young. Some sites render beautifully, others break, and a few won't load at all. The engine is still under active development — worth your curiosity, not yet worth your banking.

This is also a smaller app than the one you have. There are no tabs yet, and no bookmarks yet. What there is works, and the parts that are missing are missing honestly rather than half-built.

If you want a second browser and you'd like to watch an independent engine grow, this is that. If you need one that renders everything, keep the one you have.

BUILT OPENLY

smbCloud Browser is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. Every release pins one reviewed Servo commit, so what shipped is knowable — the engine, the Android host, and the packaging are all public, and you can build the same bundle yourself.

Servo itself is a Linux Foundation Europe project with a public roadmap. Using it is a small vote for a web that has more than two rendering engines in it.

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO

There is no account system, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sync. It stays ad-free. It doesn't ask for the bluetooth, storage, or location permissions it has no business holding — the only permissions it declares are internet access and notifications for media playback.

REQUIREMENTS
