About this app

The PotholeFixGP app has been developed by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport to allow members of the public to report potholes on the Gauteng road network. The app is simple to use and enables road users to take a picture of the pothole, record the location and size of the pothole and notify the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport of the pothole. The app allows users to supply their email addresses should they wish to receive feedback on the progress with the repair of the reported potholes. Users can also view the status of the pothole on a public facing dashboard. The road network in Gauteng comprises provincial roads, SANRAL roads, and municipal roads. The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is responsible for provincial roads and will repair potholes reported on provincial roads. Potholes reported on SANRAL, and municipal roads will be referred to the relevant authority for action.

When reporting a traffic light the app doesn't allow you to search for the address and drag the marker to the position on the map where the traffic light it. (If you enlarge the map to try and position it it goes all over the place). After reporting the traffic light it gives the wrong address. It will be a good app if it can work properly

The App is fine and easy to use, if you can take pictures while driving and avoiding potholes. BUT it's pointless, Potholes don't get fixed. It's a bit like reporting corruption in SA, you'll feel better fit a short while but nothing is done

In order to report a pothole, the user has to first take a photo of a pothole... then pinpoint the location of the pothole on a map... then upload the photo. I think you should change the app so that you just take pictures of potholes, and the app must use the phone's GPS location to automatically locate the area. Or, upload all the photos taken of potholes and the app extracts that location info from the photo's meta data.
