RME: Private PDF Scanner is a privacy-first, offline Android document scanner for turning paper documents and existing files into searchable PDFs and an organized document library.
Scan documents, import PDFs and images, recognize text on-device, search across your library, prepare safer copies for sharing and export standard files — without an RME account, ads, tracking or an RME cloud backend.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account required
• No ads
• No tracking or analytics
• No RME cloud backend
• Your document library stays on your device
• RME does not request Android INTERNET or ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions
• Standard Android sharing and system file access

MULTILINGUAL ON-DEVICE OCR
Recognize text directly on your device.
Supported OCR includes Latin-script languages such as English, Romanian, German, French, Italian and Spanish, plus Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari.
Latin OCR is built in. Additional OCR models can be downloaded through Google Play services and are then used on-device.

SEARCH, REVIEW AND CORRECT
Search document names, metadata and recognized text across your RME library, with matching text and page information where available.
Review OCR results, correct mistakes, re-run OCR, choose another language and process multiple documents with batch OCR. Manual corrections are preserved where possible.

SEARCHABLE PDFs
Create PDFs with searchable text while preserving the appearance of the scanned document. RME supports multilingual searchable PDFs and uses corrected OCR text where possible.

SHARE-SAFE COPIES
Prepare a separate copy before sharing.
• Irreversible blackout redaction
• Purpose watermarking
• Optional date marking
• Optional upload-size target
• Final preview before Save or Share
Redaction is applied destructively to the prepared copy rather than as a removable visual annotation.

FIT PDFS TO UPLOAD LIMITS
Prepare PDFs for common limits such as 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB or a custom size.
RME attempts to meet the requested limit while protecting readability. If a document already fits, unnecessary recompression is avoided.

ID AND CARD COPY
Create a one-page copy of both sides of an ID or card.
• Capture or import front and back
• Review, zoom, rotate or replace each side
• Redact sensitive areas
• Arrange on A4 or Letter
• Vertical, horizontal or automatic layout
• Save or share as PDF

SCAN AND ORGANIZE
• Scan multi-page documents
• Import PDFs and images
• Organize folders and subfolders
• Rename and move documents
• Search your library
• Work with long and multi-page files

PDF TOOLS
• Merge PDFs
• Split PDFs or extract pages
• Extract recognized text
• Create searchable PDFs
• Fit documents to upload-size limits
• Prepare Share-Safe copies
• Export standard files

MOVE FROM ANOTHER SCANNER
Bring existing scans into RME using exported PDFs or images through Android sharing or the system file picker.
Works with files exported from CamScanner, Adobe Scan / Acrobat, Genius Scan, Microsoft Lens and other scanner apps.
RME does not require access to another app's private database or cloud account.

BACKUP, TRANSFER AND SECURITY
• Create and restore portable RME backups
• Optionally encrypt backups with a password
• Move your library to another phone
• Export your files in standard formats
• Optionally lock RME using supported Android biometrics or device credentials

SMART LOCAL FEATURES
RME can use recognized text locally to suggest useful document names. Suggestions remain optional — RME never silently renames your documents.

BUILT FOR DOCUMENT OWNERSHIP
RME is designed for people who want a capable Android PDF scanner without being locked into a proprietary cloud service.
Scan, import, recognize, search, organize, redact, back up and export your documents while keeping control of your files.
